Back home: what you need to bear in mind

After one or more semesters abroad, you’re already well accustomed to all the living conditions, you’re slowly getting to grips with all the contracts and understand German bureaucracy. But what do you have to consider before you leave for your home country?

Since the same hurdles arise for every departing international student after each semester, the HSW has created an overview for you with links to all the important forms and websites.

For example, you have to close your bank account and cancel your insurance. There are also a lot of things to consider when handing over your flat, such as claiming back your deposit. Any job references issued should also be checked.

Many countries also offer financial return assistance and grants for returning graduates, so it can be useful to find out more about this too.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to consider and it is important to take enough time for everything and not to put it off until the last moment.
